Hi Jack... I know you are a busy man but you seem to have answers...
more than I can get from SSA
Anyhow... I am in the process of waiting to be scheduled for a hearing
for SSDI/SSI (after a denial and a reconsideration).
Basically... sever back pain, peripherial neuropathy, fibromialgia,
pain, tingling, numbness, weakness, fatuge,.... the whole gambit.
I filed for a hearing in April and it's almost September...I am still
not even scheduled.....this is rediculous!
My question... I noticed this on the SSA website.. is it possible to
get an advanced payment? How hard is this? How do I do it?
Thanks Jack! You are truely a great man!!
DI Presumptive Disability or Blindness and Emergency Advance
Payment-Title XVI Only
While all title XVI claimants must establish financial need based on
the I and R requirements, certain initial title XVI disability cases
may meet special criteria for receipt of payments in advance of the
formal medical determination by the DDS. The DO's are authorized to
make presumptive disability (PD) or presumptive blindness (PB)
determinations in 11 special impairment categories. The DDS's can make
such determinations in any case. Claimants may receive up to 6 months
of payments based on presumptive disability or blindness prior to the
formal DDS determination. These cases should be processed according to
DI and DI . In addition, certain title XVI
claimants may also qualify for a one time emergency advance payment
(EAP). Only the DO can issue an EAP.
The DO will identify these cases by the use of Form SSA-441
(Expedite-Delayed Case Flag). The DO will mark through the term
“Delayed Case” and enter “PD (or PB) Needed for AP” to identify
disability claims which meet the nondisability advance payment
criteria but in which the DO is unable to make a PD or PB
determination. The DO will determine which cases warrant flagging by
using specified guides to determine acute financial need. (For
information re: Development of PD/PB claims See DI ff.).
